Confrontation chain in Syria causes 25 deaths

A confrontation between prisoners and prison guards, a chain near Damascus, resulted in the death of at least 25 prisoners, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The institution, based in London, says that prisoners have died after the military police opened fire on a group of detained Islamists.
The Syrian authorities have not yet spoken on the case. One prisoner was telling the BBC that the dead serião in number considerably higher. The confrontation was triggered by situations such as the beating of detainees or desecration of the Koran by prison guards, always in accordance with the testimonies of Islamic integrals
According to the prisoners, these operations, which happened always at dawn, have been a reaction of the authorities of prisoners at a protest against poor conditions in prison, which lasted for several weeks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that a prisoner testified, using phone, which began the revolt by Muslim prisoners. The organization says also that several prisoners had to climb to the roof of the prison, to escape the shooting of the officers.
